A few of months ago two girls, a photographer and an event planner, got together over coffee to talk about how they might develop some creative projects together as a way of keeping out of trouble. That was Amy and I then – little did we know that our first project would be featured by a fabulous wedding blog – Style Me Pretty. We are so excited and so encouraged – this is the first of many more to come.

Truth is, we just love working together. I love Amy’s work and she loves mine. We came together by coincidence – she shot my sister’s wedding last year and a few other events I was involved with along the way. Our paths kept crossing, it was meant to be. The day that this first meeting took place was the day that it snowed in Burbank for the first time since the 40’s and little did we know that this would be the beginning of something equally extraordinary.

In that meeting, we decided that we would develop a ‘styled wedding shoot’ which in the industry is a shoot that has all the creative elements of a wedding but isn’t really a wedding. They are meant to inspire brides-to-be with ideas, color pallets, floral concepts and design elements for their own special day. This is my forte.

Our inspiration for this shoot was a gorgeous couple – Grace and Luis, an awesome vintage wedding dress and the stunning outdoors. I love what the elements such as burlap, torn novel pages, wildflowers and vintage broaches add to the shoot. Undone beauty.

From a design perspective, I chose to keep the main elements very simple and easy for anyone to re-create. First, decide the theme and color pallet; then begin to build the elements from there. I chose browns, creams and light pinks.

The flowers were held in antique European serving pieces I picked up in Rome last year. The items themselves don’t have to be antique or expensive they just need to reference the color pallet and theme to create a cohesive look. Overall, I was going for an unrefined look yet incorporating a level of sophistication.

Some of the details of this beautiful day are captured in the gorgeous photos below. For more information and photos check out Amy Stone Photography site as well as the official blog post on Style Me Pretty.

This day would not have happened without the help of some pretty talented people giving of their time – here’s the  list of who was involved:

Concept, Styling & Floral Design: Jessica Burns
Hair: Martina from T-Birds
Make-up: Elaine Suh
