Apple Rose Tarts – A Simple, Stunning Dessert
These beautiful Apple Rose Tarts may look like something from a fancy bakery, but they’re surprisingly easy to make — and incredibly affordable. All it takes is a sheet or two of puff pastry, a couple of apples, and a bit of time to roll them into something truly special. It’s the kind of dessert that looks impressive with very little effort — high reward, low stress. Yes, please!
I’ve made these countless times, and every time I do, people are wowed. They’re perfect for brunches, dinner parties, or even just a cozy weekend treat.
Tips for Success
Before you get started, here are some tips that will make the process a whole lot easier:
1. Slice Those Apples Thin
The thinner, the better. If you have a mandoline, definitely use it — it makes prep a breeze.
2. Hot Water is Your Friend
If you’re slicing by hand and your apples are on the thicker side, consider softening them before assembly. A quick steam or soak in hot water helps make them flexible enough to roll without breaking.
3. Don’t Skimp on the Butter
Be generous when greasing your muffin tin — like really generous. Once that jam heats up during baking, it can leak out and get super sticky. Think of it like caramel glue. A well-buttered tin makes sure those gorgeous tarts come out clean and pretty.
Instructions
- The apples are being softened in hot water.
2. Our Pastry is cut, jam ‘aka’ glue is applied, and the thin slices of apple are laid out along one side of the pastry. Keep some of the skin-side of the apple overhanging the pastry.
3. Fold the puff pastry side over the row of apple slices.
4. Roll up into the most darling little rose you’ve ever seen!
5. Place in a well-buttered muffin tin.
6. Remove from the muffin pan and let cool for at least 5 minutes. Sift powdered sugar over the top and serve.
